Tucker's Hall

rings‘Tucker’s Hall’, Exeter, Devon. Tree-ring analysis of the roof timbers, funded by English Heritage, shows them to have been felled in the period 1451-76. Traditionally, the earliest known reference to the Guild of Weavers, Tuckers and Shearmen in Exeter is in AD 1459, a consequence of a dispute with the Cordwainers as to their antiquity and precedence in the Mayor's procession on Midsummer Night.
